Well, hello and welcome to MyLipedemaLife! 😊👋

My name is Brooklynn and you have landed on my website/blog where you'll find that this project is a very personal journey that I've turned into a passion project.

The drive behind this project was very personal because I've suffered with and from Lipedema my entire life.  My legs started changing dramatically when I was a teenager just out of puberty.  By the time I was 20 years old, I was already a Stage 2.  So the next 30 years were literally a nightmare in terms of how I have viewed my body.  You'll read in My Story, how it took a stranger at our local pool, pulling me aside and enlightening me as to "why" my legs looked just like hers to even know anything about Lipedema.

Honestly, one of the most discouraging parts of this journey is the lack of medical knowledge in the United States.  In this age of advanced technology, it blows my mind that a condition that affects millions of women around the world is still unknown and mis-diagnosed as simply "obesity, laziness, water retention" and that all we need to do is "eat less and exercise more". 😞 That's simply not the reality.

Lipedema... sucks.  It affects your self confidence, your activity choices, your clothing choices, and even your personality!  It absolutely changes you... especially as it continues to progress over 3 decades with doctor after doctor after doctor not knowing anything about the condition and all offering the same, unhelpful advice.

So, I'm on a mission.  A mission to understand more for myself. And if along the way I come across valuable or important information, I'm going to share it here on this blog.  I'm also going to be my own guinea pig and invite you to join in sharing your own experiences.

As a Wife, Mom, Sister, Daughter, and Friend, I come at this life normally with an abundance of love for others and a desire to share my love and light with all around me.  It is my sincere hope and prayer that through this journey we'll find answers, we'll find solutions, we'll find some semblance of "healing".  There has got to be more to this Lipedema Life beyond painful, swollen, tree trunk looking legs. 💗
